  • Five Good Reasons to Cry this Christmas (maybe six)
Posted on Monday, December 14th, 2020 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: blue Christmas, grieving at Christmas, hard Christmas, Jesus, reasons to cry this year, sad for Christmas, the benefits of crying, why did God design tears

Can you still hear your parents’ voices echoing from childhood? “If you’re going to cry about it, go to your room.” “Now, there’s nothing to cry about.” “Stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about.” “Things happen. There’s no sense crying about it.” Our human parents had their ways, needs, and struggles. Not …[ read more ]

  • Weary of Words, But Full of Hope Facing Tuesday
Posted on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: election2020, God wants our hearts, Isaiah 29, Jesus, presidential election, weary of words, what can we take from this election season?, what does God want from us?

Our ears are full of words. Opinions, prophecies, warnings, and editorials deluge us as if, in 2020, all the water we’ve thirsted to receive has been woven into words that neither replenish our wells nor quench our thirst for truth. And I know I’ve tarried to write a post but that is why. We’re word …[ read more ]

November is coming. Decisions will be made. And we, the Body of Christ, will need to move forward together. Whatever the outcome. In conversations everywhere, I hear litmus tests – “How can you be …[ read more ]

Posted on Wednesday, August 26th, 2020 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: Christians and politics, finding my voice, how can we own this election, how to survive 2020, Jesus, Luke, presidential election 2020

We can own this election. Jesus walked this earth during times of great political, racial, cultural, and religious unrest. The New Testament was penned amid such times and the gospel went viral, transmitted person to person despite intense persecution, in times long before social media. In other words, followers of Jesus have every reason to …[ read more ]

  • The Gospel that Hangs on a Nail (or the Devil is in the Distractions)
Posted on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: building the kingdom, building the wall, crucifixion, gospel, Jesus, Nehemiah, Noah, resisting the enemy

Recently, I was offended. Highly offended. Hmph! For twenty-four hours I spun. Replaying the incident. Reliving the exchange. Accusing the other to the Lord. Stating my case. Building my defense – for my snit, for my righteous indignation, for the plan of taking further action, for the sake of the church – after all – …[ read more ]

I have been struggling with spiritual apathy and indifference recently and reading your witty, convicting, engaging, infuriating writings has helped me to realize that I am in good company.
