  • My Thoughts on Nasty Women
Posted on Wednesday, October 26th, 2016 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: evangelical vote, nasty women vote, Presidential Election 2016, women of God, women who are role models

Ah, the low-hanging fruit of a political debate. Donald Trump comments that Hilary Clinton is a nasty woman and Elizabeth Warren embraces the label as a title to wear with pride. “Nasty women vote!” she proclaims. Seriously. I mean, I get it. It’s a comeback that writes itself but, as a woman, I find it …[ read more ]

  • Why God is Loving this Election Season
Posted on Friday, October 21st, 2016 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: does my vote matter, evangelical vote, Hilary, I hate this election, lukewarm Christians, power, Presidential Election 2016, Trump

Of course, this election matters. Yes, when it’s over, no matter who takes their seat in the Oval Office, God will still be Sovereign and His plan for His people will move forward. But still, the election matters. And I don’t believe God is as perturbed by this election as some of His people are. …[ read more ]

  • I Don’t Want You to Read This Blog Post (a lesson in backfire)
Posted on Tuesday, July 12th, 2016 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: backfire, Christian response, Dallas shooting, evangelical response, evangelical vote, God is a consuming fire, losing heart, presidential campaign 2016, Psalm 37, racial divide in the church

The world is ablaze with righteous indignation. Arrows fly and I’ve grown weary of dodging them. Haven’t you? Weary of headlines. Weary of blog posts, Facebook updates, tweets, and op eds. Weary of debates in the lunchroom and at the dinner table, over coffee after church. We volley the blame ball from one hand to …[ read more ]

  • Power Hungry Christians
Posted on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: Christian vote, Christians and politics, Christians and power, evangelical vote, gospel, kingdom of God, power hungry Christians, power of the gospel, presidential race, source of power, when I am weak, why is the church ineffective

I am, admittedly, unashamedly, power hungry. In fact, I’ve been in search of power for months. During a past blizzard, the problem of powerlessness was brought home to me. We live in such an electricity-dependent age that our lives come screeching to a halt when someone pulls the plug. Our gadgets are worthless without power. …[ read more ]

  • The Only Way to Make Sense of Women
Posted on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: abortion, Carly, Cruz, culture wars, election, election controversy, evangelical vote, evil queen, gender equality, gender wars, Hilary, Megyn Kelly, poisonous apple, presidential race, Sanders, Trump, vote, women and Jesus

There’s only one way to make sense of women. I should know. I’m a woman. XX chromosome credentialed. Bona fide by birth. Not a boast, just biology. Been managing estrogen since way back. Raised a daughter in the new millennium. Came up in the sixties and seventies raised by a Boomer woman. I’ve seen decades …[ read more ]

Lori, Our Lord never ceases to amaze.. you have succeeded in disturbing this Hobbit! I have been struggling with spiritual apathy and indifference recently and reading your witty, convicting, engaging, infuriating writings has helped me to realize that I am in good company. They have also given me the kick-start I need to get off my laurels! Keep looking up..keep going on for the Lord dear sister-in-Christ!
