  • Be Wretched and Mourn and Weep
Posted on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 | Filed under Blog | Tagged: compassion fatigue, expressing sorrow and grief in the church, hardened hearts, how to respond to Las Vegas, lamentation, Las Vegas, mass murder, the worst mass murder in American history

Let’s not pretend we know how to handle what happened in Las Vegas. Christians know the answer to these distressing times isn’t to harbor anger, hopelessness, or fear. But, let me just say it, it’s also not the answer to pretend to God we aren’t tempted in these directions. Of course, we’re angry! Human life …[ read more ]

You felt it, didn’t you? When meteorologists began predicting the size and path of Hurricane Matthew and we could all see Haiti was going to take a devastating hit. I felt so weary. I knew without any doubt that I could not care about this tragedy or feel it as much as I did the …[ read more ]

When I was eight years old, I spent a sunny Saturday reading alone in the stacks of the public library. The book I read told an unbelievable story, a horrible but true story about events that happened in my parents’ lifetime in Germany. I could barely take it in but I also couldn’t turn away. …[ read more ]

Lori, Our Lord never ceases to amaze.. you have succeeded in disturbing this Hobbit! I have been struggling with spiritual apathy and indifference recently and reading your witty, convicting, engaging, infuriating writings has helped me to realize that I am in good company. They have also given me the kick-start I need to get off my laurels! Keep looking up..keep going on for the Lord dear sister-in-Christ!
