Attacked by a Large Dog

Dear Readers,

I took a week of vacation and had planned to post a new essay this week. Unfortunately, during the course of my day job, I was the victim of a vicious attack by a Pitweiler (a cross between a pit bull and a Rottweiler). I have four bites, 13 stitches, lots of scrapes and bruises, and a concussion. It may be a few days before I can post. While, of course, I wish this hadn’t happened, I feel fortunate that I had time to turn my back on the dog and that someone was close enough to drag me to safety. Overall, my physical wounds will heal soon and with prayers, so will the trauma. Please pray for my healing but also the healing of the family whose dog it was. Thank you for understanding. Mercy and grace, Lori

**Please understand, my day job is confidential so I cannot share certain details. I did see the dog secured upon my arrival. Also, please don’t disparage dogs or any particular breed of dogs in the comments. God loves all His creatures. It’s often their training or abuse by previous owners or simply protectiveness that causes these situations. I do not blame anyone nor am I angry with any dog or individual. It was simply a terrible incident that happened and I’m certain God minimized my injuries with His kind hand. I haven’t posted this to create anger toward a breed but simply to let readers know why I may be absent for a time. Thank you.

My goodness. Please don’t push too hard, especially with a concussion. It’s not worth it. I’m glad you are ok…or at least will be.

Father, please heal Lori’s body and nerves. Heal the hearts of the family who likely has had to say goodbye to their pet. Thank you that you are Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our Healer. You are good. Help Lori to let go of what would normally be hers to handle and send her the help she needs so she can rest.
In the precious name of Jesus,
    Amen

ohmygoodness, Lori! As a former mail carrier, I can only imagine the terror and pain. We are always afraid of being attacked, even though we had been trained what to do if a dog came at us. Most dogs probably wouldn’t have done that, but there were 2 German Shepherds who definitely would have killed someone if they had gotten loose.

    Praying for healing!

  36. Sandi says:

Bless your heart! So thankful you were not even more severely injured! “Trouble” He warned us about in this world comes in all kinds of shapes, sizes and measures. Thankfully it is all temporary bc of what He did to make it so! I know you know all this, but it helps to be reminded of what we know when we are hurting or recovering, or both. He loves you so much Lori! You know the liar will try to convince you otherwise, so make sure you lift up your Shield of Faith and stand against his fiery darts and wiles. Remember Job. Stand in the truth of Whose you are! Trust in His love and trust Him to use it all – He will! He’s got you, so you’ve got even this! Make Him proud – yes, it’s war – but we win! Thank you for your boldness in your witness and exhorting. You are a Sacagawea guide for so many in these foreign times in which we find ourselves – helping others navigate. He is right by your side, has your hand and will faithfully lead you through this! Keep that Shield up – and close your ears to all the doubt monsters that want to dance with you! Prayers for quick recovery in every way! Blessings!
